INSPIRED by a journey into the Pilbara region of Western Australia, Songs of the Earth is the latest exhibition by Mireille Beaufremez.
Using digital art as the medium, the exhibition is based on photographic work which has been warped to emphasise the form, tones and colour of the Australian landscape.
The exhibition will be on display at Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens, 66 McCrae St, Dandenong from Wednesday, 29 October to Wednesday, 3 December.
Beaufremez said the works on display told the story of her trip to the Pilbara in 2007.
She said most of the works were in earthy colours but the emergence of blue accounted for the presence of the sea and sky.
“The works that are displayed point to different levels of abstraction,” Beaufremez said.
“My aim was to reveal the essence of different places in the Pilbara region, even though this essence cannot be seen since as it is intangible.”
“Abstraction has led me to a simplification of the encountered natural forms but also to a confrontation with their mystery. It is this mystery that I have tried to reveal.”
‘Songs of the Earth’ will be open to the public from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday to Friday and on Sunday from 12pm to 4pm.
