ABOUT 150 people packed the Springvale District Historical Society for the launch of a new community arts project on Saturday.
Face to Face –The story of Springvale is a three-year project that engages directly with people of all ages and backgrounds who live, work or visit Springvale.
The project consists of three major stages, which include gathering people’s stories, learning about digital portrait photography and how it can be used to document lives, and documenting the journey. Selected stories, images and recordings will also be developed into a hard-copy book, DVD and exhibition.
Project Support Officer Greer Davis said the launch went “really well.”
“There is definitely a lot of excitement and we are hoping to capitalise on that,” she said.
“We will be holding an information night on 31 August, at the council offices at Springvale, from 7pm until 9pm.”
Anyone wanting to attend can register their interest with Greer Davis on 9239 5134.
Face to Face is funded by VicHealth, the Victorian Multicultural Commission and the City of Greater Dandenong.
