NOBLE PARK opened the season with a 103-point drubbing of South Croydon in their round one clash.
The Bulls led at every change in their 188 to 85 demolition, and kicked away in the second half – slotting 15.13 after half time.
Ex-Hawthorn and Box Hill player Beau Dowler wasted no time showing his talent, booting seven goals in a dominant display.
Noble Park senior coach Mick Fogerty said Dowler was impressive but owed a lot of thanks to the midfielders who gave him great opportunities all afternoon.
“Beau had a real impact up forward, but he also had great supply from Anderson, Martin and O’Brien.” Fogerty said.
“He’ll have an impact for us if he stays fit and healthy, that’s for sure.”
The Bulls shared the ball around with 12 goalkickers, but it didn’t go entirely their way despite the final score.
“The scoreboard indicates we did it easily, but South Croydon made us work pretty hard for it,” Fogerty said.
“We probably wasted the footy a little bit, but it was pleasing to see the ball get inside 50 that many times. If we get it in there 50 times, we’re pleased with that.”
The win puts Noble Park on top of the ladder with a massive 221.17 percentage. They face Norwood at home this weekend as they unfurl the 2010 EFL premiership flag.
“Norwood is on the up.” Fogerty said. “They’re a side that has been touted as a big improver after making the finals last year. They will see us as a ‘where we’re at’ side and we think the same of them.”
In the other matches, Noble Park’s reserves went down 81 to 47 and the Colts easily won 138 to 48.
