FIVE break-ins in four months have left a Eumemmerring business owner out of pocket and out of ideas.
With each break-in Naren Murugesu, owner of Landmark Computers, has beefed up security only to have the thieves return the next month.
“I don’t know what else we can do,” Mr Murugesu said.
“Each time we add security but they keep going to the next level.”
The business was ransacked in 2010, only three months after moving into the building, which alone cost the business $40,000 in losses and thousands more in repairs.
“The first one was massive and we had only moved in three months before,” Mr Murugesu said.
After such a big loss, Mr Murugesu stepped up security, to the tune of $30,000, but it has not deterred persistent thieves this year.
The Star saw CCTV footage showing two men breaking into the showroom floor and factory during the early hours of Tuesday 3 January, Tuesday 7 February, Wednesday 7 March and twice on Saturday 14 April.
The recent break-ins have cost more than dollars with Mr Murugesu determined to stop the thieves next time.
He has added security features well above and beyond the average computer store.
“All up those ones (break-ins) have cost $25,000 but not just that, there was the damage as well,” he said.
“My job is now just organising security and it is very, very stressful.”
The company is starting to cut its losses and is avoiding making insurance claims, in case the insurer refuses cover.
But Mr Murugesu steadfastly rejects any suggestion he should move.
“We have bought the building and done everything we want to the shop,” he said.
“We just want to stop it.”
Mr Murugesu is now hoping the public will come forward with any information about the break-ins.
