Knockout blow

TWO Dandenong-area sides were knocked out of the Football Federation of Victoria’s (FFV) State Knockout Cup competition, with Sandown Lions and Keysborough both falling at the first hurdle.
Keysborough lost to Kingston City FC, with Jason Samargis scoring a brace and Oboj Akokones, Velibor Mitrovic and Stefan Soler scoring a single each in the 0-5 whitewash.
Sandown Lions also lost by a similar margin to Mornington SC, downed 0-6 in their opening match of the cup.
Springvale White Eagles will enter the competition in the third round and face Brighton SC at a venue to be confirmed on Saturday 23 March.
The Dandenong Thunder, last year’s State Knockout Cup champions, will enter the competition in the fourth round with the other 11 seeded teams from the 2012 tournament.
