THE Cougars roared into life following a lacklustre first quarter in their 76-57 win over Keilor Thunder.
Squaring off for round two in the Big V Division 2 Men’s basketball season, the Cougars and Thunder failed to make any legitimate scoreboard impact in the first – going at 3/16 and 4/17 from field goal range respectively.
Following a 22-29 scoring blitz in the second quarter, Keysborough upped the pressure to post a 45-20 second half and easily get home by 19 points.
In a split effort, Nathaniel O’Hara (12 points, eight rebounds) and Tim Brook (eight points, eight rebounds) both got near the double-double mark.
The win places Keysborough second on the Division 2 Men’s ladder with a 2-0 record and faces top-seed Casey Cavaliers next Saturday night in an early indication of finals’ aptitude.
Tipoff is 7pm for the Cougars senior men while the youth league men face Casey at 5pm.
