SEIZING their first ever win, Masala Tigers claimed a 4.2 (26) to 1.8 (14) triumph over Dragons in horrendous conditions at Namatjira Park on Saturday morning.
The Tigers finally got to sing their song – eight games into their inaugural season – with their full forward kicking two goals and Srirangan Giritharan, Ben Nugent and David Crkvenac listed in the best. Masala faces Eley Park at home on 15 June.
SFL – DIVISION 2 AND 3
A low-scorer panned out Springvale Districts’ way with an 8.9 (57) to 5.7 (37) victory over Mordialloc. Gavin Vassallo continued his impressive season – jagging two goals and listed in the best alongside David Ford, Matt Thompson and Leighton Ross – giving the Demons an equal share of first place in the Division Two ladder alongside Bentleigh and Oakleigh District.
LYNDALE claimed its biggest win of the year – seizing a 14.7 (91) to 10.11 (71) win over premiership contenders Mount Waverley. Trailing by nine points at the final change, the champion Pumas, Trevor Kumetaitis (five goals), Trent Day (four) and Matt Stuart (three) pushed the home side ahead to claim a stunning upset win. Damien Wilsnach and Ordell Buntine were best afield.
SANDOWN was shocked into submission by SFL newbies Carrum Patterson Lakes in a three-point nailbiter. The Cobras rattled off too many behinds – trailing 5.11 (41) to 8.6 (54) at the last change before snaring a couple of goals to squeeze the margin back to three. The Lions kicked a trio of behinds to register their biggest win to date – an 8.9 (57) to 7.12 (54) win. John Frenken, Scott Jackman and Matt Menzies were best afield.
DANDENONG accounted for Endeavour Hills in a 10.11 (71) to 6.6 (42) win over a vastly improved Falcons lineup. Dan Atkin booted three goals while Regan Hall, Steve Young and James Farrugia were in the best.
Dandenong moves into third, Lyndale sits fourth and Sandown slips unexpectedly down to seventh.

Keysborough was made to work by perennial spooners Hampton Park – but held on for the 11.9 (75) to 7.6 (48) win. The Burras kicked away in the final term with Davor Rajic the standout with seven goals – while Daniel Morland, Tyson King and Anthony Brannan were also in the best. Keysborough sits eighth on the ladder and faces Tooradin-Dalmore away.
VWFL – SOUTH EAST
St John’s blew away Chirnside Park with a 106-point thumping as Michelle Densley (four goals), Tayla Gasparini (three) and Stacey Howe (three) impressed in the forward line. Midfielders Bronwyn Rogan (two goals) and Elizabeth Whitfield (one) continued their domination of this division. Keysborough was challenged by newcomers Seaford, with Natalie Cardamone (three goals), Kaci Hillis and Tayla Coxon best afield in their 20-point low-scoring win. St John’s and Keysborough sit second and third respectively on the ladder.
