Rangers make top Opals

DANDENONG Rangers past and present make up the Australian Opals national basketball squad set to take on China in the Australian-Sino Series this week.
In their 35-player extended squad, new coach Brendan Joyce selected a number of Rangers alumni and current players, led by star premiership-winning point-guard Kathleen Macleod, subject to a fitness assessment.
The squad also includes the Emerging Opals set to play at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia later this year.
Endeavour Hills basketballer Steph Cumming, who recently signed with the Townsville Fire, is part of the squad including 2012/13 Rangers’ Sara Blicavs and Tegan Cunningham.
Former Rangers players Alice Kunek and Elyse Penaluna also feature prominently in the squad.
