Bigger Bulls bested

By JARROD POTTER

Eastern Football League – round 3

EARLY ascendancy did not translate into victory for Noble Park, with the marching Norwood Norsemen able to seize a 26-point win.
The Bulls kicked away to an early lead with man mountain Brett Dore (3 goals) and and former Bulls’ ruckman – now Dolphins’ tapper Vergim Faik (3) hitting the scoreboard.
Noble Park had the services of Morrish Medalist Jackson Sketcher to add some more firepower to the Bulls’ engine room.
The bolstered line-up wasn’t enough to stop the march of Norwood after quarter-time however, as Leigh WIliams (5 goals) made amends for last season’s finals defeat by the Bulls.
Norwood kicked six goals in the second quarter to work to within a point of the Bulls before steaming past them after half-time.
Jon Knight’s men could not stop the Nordic charge as Norwood’s John Holmes, David Johnson and former North Melbourne/Melbourne midfielder Jordan Gysberts fought past Noble Park with ease.
Flying the flag for the Bulls were Dore, Rob Kemperman and Glen Manson while midfielders Tim Robertson, Tim Kelly and Sam Monaghan toiled in the centre.
It leaves Noble Park sitting eighth on the EFL Division 1 ladder, hoping to boost their place on Saturday when the Bulls travel to Knox.
