DANDENONG Baseball Association legend Jack Wadsworth passed away this week.
Wadsworth’s playing days as a star pitcher spanned well into his eighties in a career decorated with honours.
He played for Victoria from 1949-1951 while playing for his beloved clubs Cheltenham (formerly Prahran prior to a merger) and Malvern.
Wadsworth was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 for services to baseball.
He is a life member at Malvern and Cheltenham and his legacy will live on at Malvern with the club’s ground – Wadsworth Field – named in his honour.
He was 89 and is survived by his wife Edna and children John, David and Margaret.
