COMEDIAN Anh Do is bringing his best-selling memoir, The Happiest Refugee to life in a stand up live show. A mix of humour, real life stories, photos and film retell Anh’s story from a Vietnamese fishing boat to Australia. The memoir was recently awarded Book of the Year with sales in excess of 350,000.

Community action forum
THE NOBLE Park community action forum will hold talks from Phil Robertson about graffiti removal, and Senior Sergeant David Sims from Springvale Police Station who will speak about community policing. Everyone welcome to discuss local topics of interest.

First-aid training
A COURSE to keep your first-aid training up to date. The refresher certificate will include CPR.

Car rally
BASED in Dandenong, the Kathleen Keegel Children’s Fund (KKCF) runs a children’s home and kindergarten and also has an agricultural project set up in Sri Lanka. The team at KKCF are holding a ‘Father’s Day Car Rally.’ From the starting point you will be given cryptic clues and a map to follow along the Gippsland food trail. Participants will get bonus points for a team name and costumes.
– Cranbourne Bunnings carpark, 1205 Thomsons Road (corner South Gippsland Highway). Sunday 6 September, arrive at 9.15am for a 9.30am start. $20 per car before September 3 or $25 on the day.
Spirituality talk
FATHER John Dupuche will be speaking about spirituality and his interests in interfaith. He is a lecturer at the Catholic Theological College and will touch on Christian mindfulness.

Markets of Melbourne
THE Dandenong Market along with the Queen Victoria Market, South Melbourne Market and the Prahran Market are a part of Markets of Melbourne Market Week and will be showcasing some of their best and most inspiring market indulgences. The theme for this year’s market week is ‘Shop Well, Live Well, Eat Well’.

Girl Guides
A CAR boot sale to raise money for the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life run by the Girl Guides is now open for stallholder submissions. Money made through sales is to be kept by stallholder but all stall fees will go to the Cancer Council. A Girl Guide Devonshire tea will be held in the hall.

Dinosaurs in Springvale
ERTH’S Dinosaur Zoo is arriving in Springvale this September. The children’s show includes large-scale dinosaur puppets and prehistoric creatures from baby dinosaurs to the largest carnivores that ever walked the planet. The world’s largest flying insect the Meganuera monyi will also be on display. Critics have described the show as an ‘extraordinary spectacle’.

Relay for Life
THE City of Greater Dandenong’s 2015 Relay for Life is already in planning and the team is hoping to get new members to raise money for the Cancer Council.

Healthy and deadly
YOUNG people can learn about looking after themselves and their mob, meet new people, learn skills, connect with their culture and more at this Koorie program. It’s for ages 14 to 21 and food is provided.

Rock and roll dance class
JOIN in on the fun and learn to rock and roll, swing and line dance with like-minded people.

KEYSBOROUGH Learning Centre will host Rainbows for the Children of Australia’s after school program to help kids deal with life challenges such as death and divorce.

Ballroom dancing
JOIN in the social mixed styles of ballroom dancing at the Burden Park Bowling Club.
There’s ballroom dancing every Monday from 6.30pm to 10pm, and every fifth Saturday there’s dancing from 1pm to 5pm and ballroom from 8pm to 11pm.

Library Toddler Time
THESE free sessions are designed to help children aged two to three to develop their imagination and vocabulary and find a love for books and reading.
