A REJUVENATED Dandenong North East Kindergarten will soon have space to welcome twice as many kids.
At their 29 January meeting, City of Greater Dandenong councillors awarded the $520,000 contract for building alterations and additions at the Ingrid Street preschool to Cornerstone Constructions.
“The alterations are going to be great for the families of the area,” councillor Roz Blades said.
The works will include two new wings, which will be served by a facilities core located between them.
The council’s engineering services director Bruce Rendall said construction works would start this week and should be finished by 30 June.
“We have relocated the kinder classes to a temporary building located in the car park to enable service delivery to continue during the works,” he said.
“The children will retain access to the playground for the entire duration.
“On completion, they will have an upgraded kinder building with double the capacity of the current one.”
