NOBLE Park community worker Nina Springle will be the Greens’ candidate for Lyndhurst at the 27 April by-election.
The Labor Party is yet to confirm who it will put up to contest the seat, left vacant when former Labor MP Tim Holding resigned on 18 February.
The Liberal Party indicated it was unlikely to field a candidate.
“The Liberals have abandoned this contest,” Ms Springle said.
“Labor believes they have this seat in the bag.
“I’m offering people something different.”
Ms Springle said the Greens had practical and affordable policies that would make a difference to the area.
“Let’s see more buses at Noble Park station that connect with late evening trains, run all day Saturday and Sunday and extend down to the new estates in Keysborough where they don’t even have a bus.”
