Survey finds the road to misery

COMMUTERS in Doveton, Endeavour Hills, Eumemmering and Hallam want
peak-hour traffic trouble spots improved, according to a Casey council
transport survey that attracted 8843 responses.

The biggest arterial road propority across Casey was the capacity
of the Monash and Princes freeways, followed by construction of a
southern Dandenong bypass extension. The council has revised its
arterial road priority list to reflect the survey results.

The survey, completed last summer, reveals that the major concern
of Doveton residents is the Princes Highway/South Gippsland Freeway
interchange. Their second priority is construction of a Dandenong bypass
extension and third is improving capacity of the Monash and Princes
freeways.

Traffic build-up on freeways is the top priority of people living
in Endeavour Hills. They also want the intersection of Heatherton and
Hallam North roads upgraded.

Eumemmering residents say the duplication of Hallam South Road
between the Princes Highway and Pound Road is top priority. Freeway
improvements to the Princes Highway/South Gippsland Freeway interchange
also feature.

Hallam residents want Hallam South Road between the Princes Highway and Pound Road duplicated.

Public transport concerns included the need for more staff and toilets at railway stations.
