Youth bashed at Plaza

A GROUP of attackers punched a 16-year-old Berwick boy and demanded his wallet at Dandenong Plaza on 23 September.
It was the latest in a series of serious assaults around the centre.
He told police the teens, who were of Pacific Islander appearance, approached him about 6.10pm.
He said he tried to flee but they chased him and caught up, landed punches to his face and body and tried to take his backpack.
They ran when shopping centre security staff approached.
An ambulance attended the scene but the victim refused medical treatment for his minor injuries.
Greater Dandenong CIU detectives are investigating, including reviewing CCTV footage.
Earlier this month, police hunted attackers brandishing metal poles who robbed two people in Foster and McCrae streets on 8 September.
They arrested and charged 10 Greater Dandenong and Casey residents aged between 15 and 18 with two counts of armed robbery and a number of assaults.
They’re still investigating whether other assaults in the area in the preceding weeks were linked.
Police were set to meet with Plaza managment to discuss strategies to combat violent crime around the shopping precinct.
Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 with any information.
