Holiday traffic blitz

By CASEY NEILL

POLICE will be out in force on Greater Dandenong roads this Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
Greater Dandenong Highway Patrol Senior Sergeant Scott Roberts said Operation Regal would target traffic on Friday night and Monday afternoon.
“This is a state-based operation, so as usual we’ll have as many cars out as possible, particularly for the afternoon shift,” he said.
“We’ll have a lot of crews on the road all weekend, though.”
Sen Sgt Roberts said Greater Dandenong was one of the highest areas for road trauma so the Operations Response Unit and State Highway Patrol would be assisting his team, particularly on major arterials and the Monash Freeway.
He urged drivers to slow down and think about those around them.
“A lot of people are in a hurry to maximise their weekend,” he said.
“It’s about patience.”
