DETECTIVES at Greater Dandenong CIU believe two deliberately-lit fires that damaged cars in Springvale and Dandenong North on 12 July are unrelated.
At 1am a Toyota RAV4 parked at Ellt Crescent, Dandenong North, had an accelerant poured on its bonnet and set alight.
Detective Senior Constable Kane Taylor of Greater Dandenong CIU said witnesses heard a car drive off followed by a “bang”.
At 10.30pm the same day a vehicle parked at Charlton Street, Springvale, was “significantly damaged” inside and out by a lit accelerant that had been poured over its exterior.
Senior Constable Taylor said police had been told that three people were seen fleeing from the scene in a dark-coloured hatchback.
He said both damaged vehicles were likely to be written off.
Any information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
