New hub plays its part

DANDENONG is home to Preston Motors Group’s new parts hub.
The automotive parts and refinish supplier opened the 5400 square metre warehouse in Discovery Road on 14 July after previously operating a smaller warehouse on Greens Road, Dandenong.
“We know that Dandenong is a great place for us to do business,” CEO John Bradley said.
“Our new state-of-the-art warehouse will allow us to ensure that we have the right structure in place to handle the anticipated increase in parts volume in the next few years.
“In addition, we are pleased to be continuing our operation in Dandenong and look forward to continuing to contribute to the local economy.”
The centre can receive products without interruption to other business elements and products can be put away or cross docked rapidly, picked with minimum human effort and despatched.
More than 430 metres of conveyor belts run through the warehouse and computer systems direct people from one task to the next, streamlining processes.
It’s also designed to best WorkCover occupational health and safety standards, making it safer for its 40 employees.
