Portrait of disability

AN ART competition is painting a different picture of disability.
Dandenong adult disability support service Wallara started Picture This to get students thinking about what social inclusion for people with disabilities really meant.
The competition last year received 60 entries from five schools.
Corporate partnerships and communications manager Karen Scholey said there were a large number of entries from schools across the south east again this year, including photographs, paintings and drawings.
“The judges were really impressed with the high standard of the entries which made judging a difficult process,” she said.
Ms Scholey said they eventually agreed on two outstanding entries and the winners will be announced at the Wallara annual concert at Frankston Arts Centre on 19 October.
The winners will each receive a $250 prize and their artworks will appear on two Wallara buses, turning them into eye-catching mobile billboards.
