Appeal for cold case witness

POLICE are appealing for information about a decade-old alleged rape.
Dandenong Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) Detective Senior Constable Tristan Snow said the woman involved was 30 years old when the incident was said to have taken place.
“At the time she was seeking help for drug and alcohol addiction. She was in a fragile state,” he said.
“The victim still has limited recollection of the incident.”
He said her car broke down on Princes Highway in Dandenong, near Clow Street, in March 2004.
A man helped her to move the car, and she accompanied him to a barbecue.
“The next thing she remembers is waking up in an unknown house in Noble Park on a mattress with the male suspect,” he said.
“He’s telling her that they just made love. There was no consent given.
“She doesn’t know that male.”
Sen Const Snow has released images of a witness and suspect and appealed for anyone who recognises the men to come forward.
“The witness and the suspect may be known to each other, most likely that’s the case, but we’re really not sure,” he said.
The suspect is described as tall with a very heavy build, and the witness was described as olive-skinned and dressed nicely.
Call SOCIT on 8769 2200 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 with any information.
