A NEW apartment block will tower above Dandenong by the end of next year.
Spectra Apartment Tower will be the tallest residential building in Dandenong at 17 storeys above street level and will give residents views to Port Phillip.
Construction at 219-221 Thomas Street will start in July and wrap up in December next year.
The development will include 96 apartments over 12 levels plus retail and office space and five levels of car parking.
There’ll be apartments with two bedrooms and bathrooms, one bedroom plus a study, and one bedroom.
Spectra will be in the heart of the Comprehensive Development Zone where major development projects have been taking place as part of the State Government’s $290 million Revitalising Central Dandenong project.
The government support has so far generated private sector investment exceeding $460 million and a further $550 million is expected over the next 10 years.
Managing director Martyn Barnes said the Places Victoria 20-year masterplan initially attracted him to the location.
“And the commitment by both the state and local government to develop and gentrify this particular location in Melbourne,” he said.
“It has clearly been identified as an extremely important economic hub for commerce and industry and in my mind this commitment flows down to where we, as investors and developers, should be investing.”
