Dandenong Park’s Australia Day Festival is unique in more ways than one.
Thursday 26 January will mark the 56th time the celebration has been held at the Pultney Street park, making it Victoria’s longest-running Australia Day event held at the same location.
Greater Dandenong Mayor Jim Memeti said more than 10,000 people were expected to celebrate at the family-friendly event.
He said there’d be live music, roving performers, rides and a firework display.
There’ll also be an Australia Day Award Ceremony, workshops, low-cost rides, free valet bike parking and more.
Headlining the main stage will be The Fifths, Dave Arden Duo Band, Le Petit Circus and Swim Season.
Giant cows from Snuff Puppets will be among roving performers and children will find themselves cast as the heroes of two outdoor, interactive performances of The Whale’s Tale.
The festival will start at 3pm and finish with fireworks from 9.25pm.
