Midnight assault near station

Two men of African appearance assaulted and robbed a 20-year-old man near the Springvale railway station.
The victim got off a train just after midnight on Thursday 19 January and was walking along Lightwood Road when a blue or silver Toyota Camry approached.
The car pulled over, and two men, described as African, exited while another two stayed inside the car.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Tony Lavars said the men physically assaulted the victim, demanding his mobile phone and wallet.
They held his hands behind his back, pushed to his knees to the ground and took his phone and wallet. He did not sustain any serious injuries.
Det Sen Const Lavars appealed for anyone who saw the incident or with any information about the people or vehicle involved to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
