Career options open up

By Casey Neill

More than 1000 Keysborough students learnt about their study and career options at a pathways expo.
Keysborough College hosted the seventh annual event on Tuesday 30 May.
Banksia Campus principal Patrick Boyd said all senior students were involved and heard from more than 70 presenters.
“The Careers and Pathways Expo is the ‘gateway’ for our students to our pathways decision-making process, which culminates in our senior school information evening to be held at the college in late July,” he said.
“We invite university, TAFE, other training organisations, apprenticeship providers and local businesses to provide a cross-section of possible pathways for our students to learn about and network with.
“Our students have told us that the in-school experience is by far the better way to gain career and pathways information, and many will then visit the open days of the various institutions to gain even more information or to modify their pathway choice.
“Some have made up their minds which pathway they would like to pursue, and what they need to study to get there, while others have a general idea to work on for the future.
“For our Year 10 students, they are now more able to make the important subject choices for VCE early in term three.”
