A Dandenong South timber processing business will use a $10,000 boost to cut energy use.
Premier Wood Machining Services received the cash through the State Government’s Boosting Business Productivity Program.
The Sustainability Victoria program supports businesses with three different efficiency grants, a sustainable finance service, training events, and information resources.
The Premier Wood Machining Services was concerned about its energy costs and wanted to reduce its energy use before renegotiating supply contracts later this year.
The business has expansion plans and recognised that exploring renewable energy options was important, as environmental credentials had significant value to timber industry customers.
Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams said the business identified potential savings of up to $11,700 a year through an energy assessment.
“Energy assessments are a great opportunity for businesses to improve their productivity, reduce their operating costs,” she said.
Premier Wood Machining Services is now working with an experienced energy consultant to identify more potential energy efficiency improvements, review pricing tariffs, and find suitable renewable energy options.
The grants are open to businesses spending more than $20,000 a year on energy.
