Hammered robbers target bottle shops

Robbers armed with hammers have held up liquor stores in Keysborough and Mulgrave.

Police believe the two robberies that happened within 30 minutes on Saturday 23 March are linked.

At 5pm, two men wielding hammers made demands for cash and cigarettes at an outlet on Chandler Road, Keysborough.

The attendant complied after the pair smashed the counter and a computer monitor.

About 5.35pm, a man armed with a hammer threatened an attendant at a store on Police Road, Mulgrave.

The attendant was forced to hand over cash, police say.

Neither of the workers at the two liquor stores were injured.

Southern Metro Region Crime Team detectives have released CCTV and images of two men who they believe can assist their investigation.
