Two hospitalised in drunken fight

A man has been charged over seriously injuring a drinking buddy during a violent fight at a boarding house in Oswald Street Dandenong.

A verbal stoush turned physical when he allegedly punched the victim to the face about 7.20pm on Tuesday 25 June.

As the victim lay on the ground, his head was stomped. The man then broke a glass bottle on the victim’s head, police say.

The victim was reportedly taken to The Alfred hospital with serious but non-life-threatening lacerations.

Soon afterwards, the man allegedly armed himself with a knife and fought with a resident in Cleeland Street.

The man himself was later hospitalised with a serious finger injury.

He was remanded to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court, charged with intentionally causing injury and weapon offences.
