Re: Hazaras do the hard yards

Thank you, Hamid, for explaining some of your personal story, a background to why you and your people need protection. Please send a copy to the federal leader of the opposition and to the prime minister. Maybe if they read it and think about your life they will not be so heartless in dealing with asylum seekers who come the dangerous way, by boat.

Coming by boat to claim protection from persecution is legal, and asylum seekers should not be kept in detention for more than one month. They must also be allowed to work to support themselves and their family. The asylum seekers I have known do not like to be bludgers on welfare.

Re: Pakula for Lyndhurst

Pakula will be a great local member. Please ALP, use this opportunity to put in a young talented future minister in the upper house seat that Pakula vacated. Labor leader Daniel Andrews deserves no less.

Political parties are certainly environmentally friendly: they just recycle candidates over and over in every election — local, state and federal. If these candidates didn’t succeed in a former election campaign why do the party faithful think they will be successful if they stand for re-election again? Aren’t we entitled to have some fresh enthusiastic personalities to represent us?

Re: Single mum steps up

Gloria is the kindest person you’ll ever meet in your life. She is always working hard for her kids, school, Cornerstone and the wider community. A seriously undervalued member of Dandenong society and she should be supported far more than she is.
