Funds for the sick kids

A KEYSBOROUGH event will raise at least $2000 for sick kids this Good Friday.
Joanne Pollina will host a Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal fund-raiser at 146 Cheltenham Road, Keysborough, from 10am on 29 March.
It will be her third event for the appeal in the past 10 years.
“The hospital is very important,” she said.
“I’ve got some friends who’ve got sick kids.”
Her own daughter, Maddison, 8, by coincidence wound up in the hospital last month.
“We’d organised the event months ago,” Ms Pollina said.
“She’s usually a well girl.”
There’ll be a car show with a $5 entry fee and trophy’s for the people’s choice, face painting for a gold coin donation and food available.
Paperbark Ward councillor Roz Blades will judge an Easter hat parade at 11am, which has categories for boys and girls, costs $2 to enter and has vouchers up for grabs.
An auction hosted by a local real estate auctioneer kicks off at 1pm and includes a passenger ride in a Lamborghini and an Aston Martin.
Ms Pollina’s company will donate $2000 to the appeal regardless of the total raised at the event.
“Anything more will be a bonus,” she said.
“Hopefully, it’s a great day.”
