Council moves to fix machine shortfall

SPRINGVALE’S Number 8 Balmoral Avenue car park is a ticket machine down after thieves ruined the $50,000 device.
Councillor Youhorn Chea asked the 11 June City of Greater Dandenong council meeting why the third machine was missing and whether it could be replaced for shoppers’ convenience.
Acting corporate services director Kylie Sprague said the machine had been recently stolen.
“It was located but it was unable to be fixed,” she said.
“It’s quite an investment and quite a loss in having it stolen.
“What we have decided to do to remedy the situation is move one of the other ticket machines to the more prominent location and there will be a reduction from three down to two machines in the short term.
“We will monitor usage and consider options.”
