Police name bash victim

POLICE have revealed the name of the Malaysian tourist who died after he was beaten with a metal pole in Springvale on 3 March.
Leong Per Lim, 45, entered Sydney on a tourist visa in December 2005.
Police are still appealing for witnesses and urging anyone who knew where Mr Lim was living to contact them. The incident occurred about 12.20am near the McDonald’s at the corner of Heatherton and Springvale roads. Police believe Mr Lim was walking along the street when another man approached him and hit him with a metal pole or similar object during an altercation.
Police and ambulance officers attended a short time later and the man was transported to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition where he later died at 5am.
