Mercury rises for Queen at Sandown

Rock you: Gareth Hill as Freddie Mercury and Scott Bastian as Brian May.

THEIR mantra is simple: sound like Queen, perform like Queen, look like Queen and have fun doing it.

That’s what the Australian Queen Tribute Show will bring to the Sandown Park Hotel on Saturday, August 17.

Replicating one of the world’s greatest bands, the tribute show will feature a host of legendary hits – Another One Bites the Dust, We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody and the universal sporting anthem, We Are the Champions.

Lead singer Gareth Hill, one of the late rock god Freddie
Mercury’s biggest fans, has transitioned from a Queen tragic with a good
voice to become one of the most accomplished cover artists in the business.

Mercury’s former personal assistant, Peter Freestone, once described a Hill performance as “eerie”.

In the show, Scott Bastian plays guitar legend Brian May, Brad
Scream is rock drummer Roger Taylor and Darren McLaughlin is bass player
John Deacon.

The Australian Queen Tribute Show is at Sandown Park Hotel on
Saturday, August 17. Doors open at 8pm. Tickets $19, by phone on 9546
5755 or at the door. Other shows coming up at Sandown Park Hotel
include Hardcopy performing on September 14 and High Voltage on October
19. For more details, visit
