This is a complete waste of time and taxpayers’ money. Some are saying we only need two levels of government. Let’s just have postal voting which eliminates going to the polling booth. I would love to know the real reason behind Tim Holding’s departure.

The danger of smart meters
The new electronic devices — sarcastically called smart meters — represent an enormous danger to all residents. They are permanent active electronic boxes with unknown content, but definitely with permanent radiation of specific properties.
As some more knowledgeable people say, they will send, in very small time intervals, a very strong burst of energy to be able to be picked up by distant receivers. It means we will be, until our death, exposed to one completely new network of a radiating device. It seems that our greedy companies and the irresponsible Victorian government like to enjoy good perks and salaries based on implementing the slow destruction of the health of our population.

I believe Greater Dandenong Council is to be commended for opposing the introduction of smart meters.They are not essential for the efficient supply of electricity to consumers.
Who wants smart meters? The big companies who now run our privatised energy business will be the big winners; they will achieve cost efficiencies by making meter readers redundant and expand their revenue capacity significantly by restructuring prices.
In Victoria, successive state governments have a total disregard for public opinion on smart meter technology. Consumers have been intimidated by threats that our electricity supply will be cut off if we refuse the private energy providers access to the existing metering equipment at our homes.
Smart meters do not necessarily represent the advent of more efficient electricity: the evidence is ambiguous and inconclusive at best.

This story of the bus and the shopping trolleys is typical of ‘take from the old’ (most of whom have worked 40-odd years of their lives and paid taxes) and ‘give to the young’ so much money.

Re: Power bill complaint? ‘Take it to the top’
A $481 bill is disgusting. I won against AGL with my gas bill which in one quarter jumped from $8000 to $12,000. This was apparently due to estimated bills over two years. Basically, they tried to tell me I had used almost $500 per quarter, and that was after they got a proper read of $180 a quarter. I never got the return phone calls from supervisors so the Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria dealt with it for me. The bill was reduced but not enough until it was eventually quashed. I don’t use AGL any more and recommend the same to anyone. Fight them on every cent.
