SPRINGVALE North Tennis Club remain unbeaten in the Tennis Victoria Grade Two pennant season after a narrow six-game victory against Dendy Park.
With both teams locked on two rubbers and five sets after four matches, Stephen Nguyen’s 6-3 first set victory handed Springvale North the points, but Nguyen eventually fell 6-3 4-6 2-6.
David Fonseca returned to the side in a match the 19-year-old would rather forget, losing 3-6 1-6.
Fonseca failed to find his usually explosive forehand and simply committed too many unforced errors.
Coach Stephen Sruk and Trent Cobb both won their matches.
Springvale North hosts Dingley on Sunday in doubles action.
Sruk will pair with Pawlukowski, while Nguyen and Cobb combine in the other match.
