Centre marks birthday

NOBLE PARK’S Paddy O’Donoghue Centre celebrated its first birthday in style last Friday.
The centre opened 12 months ago as a solution by the City of Greater Dandenong council to combine a majority of its child, ageing and other community services into the one building, making it cost effective for the council and more convenient for residents.
Paddy O’Donoghue facilities manager, Dandenong University of the Third Age and trainees from the LINK Employment program at the centre teamed up to host a Cancer Council Victoria fundraiser, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, to raise funds for cancer research.
Olive O’Donoghue, wife of the late Paddy O’Donoghue after whom the centre is named, joined in on the celebrations by cutting the first birthday cake.
Entertainment was provided by variety of community groups using the centre.
Paddy O’Donoghue, the centre’s namesake, was a tireless community contributor and spent 47 years as a committee member of the Noble Park Public Hall Trust.
