Southern Football League – round one

LYNDALE opened its SFL Division 3 football account with a 37-point win over fellow Greater Dandenong team Sandown Cobras.
Only two points separated the Pumas and Cobras at quarter-time before the Lyndale effort ramped up.
Trevor Kumetaitis and Trent Day both jagged three goals and the seamless transition from cricket to football was executed by Dale Tormey (two goals), who was among the best on ground with Jayden Johnson and Brett Tosh.
For Sandown Clint Sheedy (two goals) made his return to the seniors after spending most of 2013 in the reserves while the best afield were Brad Hemphill, Brad Reiner and Jason Toan.
Happy hunting was not the case for the Redlegs, copping a 130-point drubbing at the hands of Mount Waverley.
A close clash at quarter-time turned to carnage from there as the Mountain Lions roared into life.
Dandenong would only score one goal after quarter time while Mount Waverley pumped in 19.
Ryan Wigney (1 goal), Jason Hook and Dale Jose were the best of the Redlegs bunch.
Springvale Districts take its first outing on Saturday as it clashes with Oakleigh at Princes Highway Reserve in Clayton.
In SFL Division 3 Lyndale will host Dandenong in the other cross-town clash while Sandown Cobras take on Carrum Patterson Lakes away.
