LOGIS in logical win

DANDENONG LOGIS has received a national award.
Victoria’s first eco-industrial estate won the Best Business or Industrial Park award at the Property Council of Australia’s National Innovation and Excellence Awards.
The awards celebrate innovation and leading practice within Australia’s property development and investment industries.
PCA state award winners are nominated for the national awards.
LOGIS was announced as the national winner in its category at a ceremony in Sydney on 17 May.
Places Victoria major projects general manager Peter Armstrong said the win recognised LOGIS’s innovative environmental sustainability attributes.
“Dandenong LOGIS features a range of sustainability initiatives including a Class A recycled water pipeline, a network of bike paths and green corridors connecting with the rehabilitated Dandenong Creek,” he said.
“LOGIS also features energy efficient street lighting, native plantings to foster wildlife and over 20 hectares of planned open space offering passive and active recreational opportunities to workers and the local community.
“In addition, the creation of a wetland in the southern part of LOGIS is attracting significant birdlife to the area.”
Mr Armstrong said LOGIS had attracted $250 million of private sector investment from a $106 million public investment since the project started in 2006.
“On completion, LOGIS is anticipated to have attracted a total of $480 million in private sector investment, with revenue and land sales totalling approximately $240 million,” he said.
“LOGIS is expected to have created 5000 new jobs in Dandenong South and include more than 130 hectares of developed land when complete in 2015.”
