SECURING a pair of state championships in the under-14 category, Wangaratta proved a happy hunting ground for Dandenong Baseball Association.
Once again facing staunch rival Ringwood in the last round of the competition, Dandenong Division 1 was able to keep calm and build a five-run lead through the match before Ringwood started a mini comeback.
It left the heavy hitting to Dandenong’s Conor Myles who excelled via hit after hit to earn his side a number of RBIs.
Aiden Flynn iced the game with a three-run homer and with his superb hit, it secured Dandenong the state title.
Dandenong’s Division 2 team had a more comfortable run to the pennant, winning five times out of six matches in its group to secure the championship
Most Valuable Player awards for the association went to Dandenong Black’s Jess Brummelen and Dandenong Red’s Ben Fierenzi.
The under-14s continued the stellar work of the senior men and the under-18 boys in claiming the state championship, making the representative season very lucrative for Dandenong Baseball Association.
