Federal funding a flow-on effect

GREATER Dandenong residents have helped carry the Labor Party to victory in each of the three federal seats covering the municipality.
Seats of Isaacs, Bruce and Hotham were all retained by Labor and in each case the margin of control was expanded.
Simon Crean was returned in Hotham, Alan Griffin in Bruce, and Mark Dreyfus continues Labor’s domination in the seat of Isaacs.
Current Australian Electoral Commission data shows that Isaacs has gone from a marginal 1.5 percent Labor seat to about eight percent.
Hotham has blown out to a safe Labor seat with Simon Crean holding a healthy 13.8 percent margin for Labor after the weekend’s polling.
And Alan Griffin regained lost ground from 2004, with voters this time swinging to him and not Liberal candidate Angela Randall.
Bruce is currently looking at an 8.7 percent margin in Labor’s favour.
