THREE teenage girls escaped serious injury after being struck by a car near Springvale Library this afternoon.
About 3pm, the students were crossing Springvale Road – but not using a pedestrian crossing – when they were in collision with the car leaving the library car park.
The three girls were taken by ambulance to Dandenong Hospital with minor injuries.
Senior Constable Peter Evans of Springvale police said the driver had been checking for traffic from the right as he turned left onto Springvale Road.
The driver – who tested negative for drugs or alcohol – had failed to notice the girls crossing the road to his left, Sen Const Evans said.
“It highlights the need for drivers to look both ways and for people to cross at the crossings.”
