EARLIER

POLICE are conducting a post-mortem investigation into the death of a woman in her fifites, found at a unit fire in Dandenong last night.
Her body was found by fire-fighters who were called to a blaze at a rear unit in Sheales Street about 7.10pm.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said another woman at the scene was
taken to hospital.
An elderly male neighbour in the next-door unit said a mother and daughter had lived there for at least five years.
“I didn’t really know them. They were pretty quiet and kept to themselves.“
He said he never heard any arguments, nor had he seen anything suspicious at the neighbouring residence.
Five fire trucks had been called to the scene, and had the blaze under control within five minutes, a CFA spokesman said.
Homicide and forensic detectives investigated the scene overnight.
