Bomb threat closes Dandenong station

A MAN has been charged over allegedly making a false bomb threat that caused the evacuation of Dandenong railway station this morning.
The 28-year-old West Australian has been charged with making a bomb hoax and making a false report to police.
He is expected to front Dandenong Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.

THE Police Bomb Squad has cleared Dandenong railway station of any safety threat.
Reportedly, the squad’s robot inspected two suspicious packages prior to the all-clear about 11.40am.
A man remains in police custody over the incident, a police spokeswoman said.
“Nothing has been found while officers conducted safety checks.”
A Metro Trains spokeswoman said trains have resumed normal service but for 15-minute “residual delays”.

DANDENONG railway station has been evacuated due to a bomb threat Thursday morning 25 February.
Victoria Police’s bomb squad is on the way to the station, which has been closed since shortly before 9am.
A police spokeswoman said a man had been arrested at the station and was “assisting with our inquiries”.
She said police officers were conducting safety checks at the station.
There are no reported injuries.
The bus terminus at the station has also been closed.
Buses at Dandenong are stopping at the corner of Hammond and Cheltenham roads, south of Dandenong station.
Metro Trains have suspended Cranbourne and Pakenham train services during the incident.
Buses are replacing trains between Oakleigh and Cranbourne on the Cranbourne line, and trains between Oakleigh and Berwick on the Pakenham line.
