Juniors boss resigns

By Paul Pickering
DANDENONG and District Junior Football League general manager Anne-Marie Brown has resigned, ending a 16-year stint on the league’s board.
Brown, who was openly criticised in a recent AFL Victoria review of junior football in the region, told the Star that the she could not embrace the governing body’s vision for the league.
“The league’s going in a different direction than I am, so it’s best that I resign,” she said on Wednesday.
The February report, which documented the decline of junior footy in Greater Dandenong, prompted AFL Victoria to appoint Liz Triffitt as a project manager to steer a revamp of the league.
Brown called the report ‘scathing and very unprofessional’, telling the Star in February that she considered quitting her role as a result.
Triffitt last month dismissed suggestions of any tension in her working relationship with Brown. She did not respond to calls this week.
