Playground opening

Kids can enjoy free face painting, prizes, giveaways and entertainment to celebrate the opening of the new playground near Target.
There’ll also be a morning tea garden party at the playground for children aged three to 12 years. Greta the Garden Gnome will host activities at two 60-minute sittings at 9am and 11am.
The playground will not be open to the public until 11.30am.
For adults, there’ll be free Waverley Gardens gift cards for the first 250 customers to make a purchase at Beauty Excellence, Gloria Jeans, Target, Ava Gifts, The Reject Shop, Fantastic Home Gifts, or Tailer To Alterations between 9.30am and noon.
Shoppers can spend $50 to receive a $20 gift card or $25 for a $10 gift card. Receipts can be combined to reach the total and redemption is via the white carts near the playground until 12.30pm.

This Hannah Wall exhibition through various levels of abstraction explores time, memories and feelings associated with a place.

Memorial art prize

The Ron Rado Memorial Acquisitive Art Prize is an annual prize for visual arts and photography students who attend Chisholm Institute.
Ron Rado was a Dandenong businessman and entrepreneur.

Robotics workshop

This free session will introduce kids aged 7 to 11 years to pathways in engineering, science and IT.

Watching the ’hood

Greater Dandenong Neighbourhood Watch has two big events coming up in September.
A fund-raiser at the Noble Park RSL from 6.30pm on Saturday 16 September will feature a six-piece band.
Senior Sergeant Ivan Petrunic will be the guest speaker at its next public forum.
