Rangers add top recruit

DANDENONG is emerging as a contender for the 2010/11 WNBL championship after signing yet another big-name recruit last week.
Former Adelaide Lightning championship player Tracy Gahan inked a one-year deal with the Rangers last Thursday as the club continues its brash off-season recruiting campaign.
The talented Texan guard, who was selected in the WNBL all-star five in the Lightning’s 2007/08 championship year, said she couldn’t wait to join former team-mate Jess Foley and fellow off-season signings Abby Bishop, Kathleen MacLeod, Ellie Manou and Chantella Perera at Stud Road next season.
“Dandenong looks like the perfect fit for me,” she said
“I’m so excited to be joining the Rangers program and am really looking forward to this season.”
Gahan, who was drafted by the WNBA’s New York Liberty in 2002, has been playing in the Polish National League after her stint with Adelaide.
Rangers basketball operations manager Leigh Gooding said Gahan would be a welcome addition to the new-look roster.
“Tracy has an impressive record in the WNBL and has the ability to trouble opposition teams with her athleticism, quickness and versatility,” he said.
The WNBL season begins in October.
