THE Lonsdale Street transformation is well underway, and retailers are invited to learn more about it at a Dandenong Retailer Traders’ Association meeting next month.
VicUrban’s Development Director Michael King will be the guest speaker at the 5 October meeting.
He said the majority of works to transform Lonsdale Street north of Walker Street were nearing completion.
“We are now entering the last stages of works to transform the area north of Walker Street into a thriving boulevard, and I thank all retailers for their patience during this time,” he said.
“Lonsdale Street is fast becoming a place that we can all be proud of.
“Though completing a small section of the works in 2011 we will assist traders and shoppers by instating most of Lonsdale Street’s car parking and minimising construction activity during the busy Christmas period.”
The meeting will occur at the Ramada Encore Hotel, 50 McCrae Street, Dandenong, at 6pm.
Chairperson of the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association Roy Aspinall invited members and non-members to the meeting.
Also attending the October general meeting will be Peter Shelton, Manager Regulatory Services with the City of Greater Dandenong to seek retailers’ opinion on the new Council policy regarding the suspension of parking fees during certain periods as required and especially the coming Christmas period.
For information about the General Meeting or the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association contact Mr Aspinall on 9793 3487.
