DANDENONG MP John Pandazopoulos is driving around in a dirty car.
And it’s all because he is confident Casey councillor Wayne Smith will wash it after making a Grand Final bet.
Collingwood supporter Mr Pandazopoulos and avid Saints fan Cr Smith made the bet that the loser will have to wash the other’s car before the Grand Final last week.
Cr Smith decorated his house in Saints flags and posters and watched the game from his house.
Mr Pandazopoulos said he also watched the game from his house with his children. He said though he was disappointed their teams didn’t reach a result, he was happy to get his car a little dirtier this week so he could soak up the enjoyment of watching Cr Smith scrub it clean.
“It gave me an extra week to pack on the grime, but I am confident we will do better this Saturday,” Mr Pandazopoulos said.
Mr Pandazopoulos said being a Collingwood supporter has prepared him for the tough life of politics.
“A lot of people from a Greek background either barrack for Collingwood or Richmond because that is where the first Green migrants came. But it’s a good thing to pick a team,” he said.
“Being a Collingwood supported has toughened me up – either people hate you or they love you.”
