Second charged with Mitat Rasimi murder

A second man has been charged with murder over the fatal shooting of Mitat Rasimi in Dandenong last year.

Victoria Police’s Taskforce Sector detectives arrested a 27-year-old Dandenong man in Springvale about 4pm on Tuesday 25 February.

He is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 26 February.

Detectives also raided properties in Dandenong and Endeavour Hills as part of the operation.

In November, police charged a 25-year-old Hampton Park man with one count of murder and firearms offences.

He is currently remanded and due to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 9 April.

Mitat Rasimi, who is said to have underworld links, had been driving a car at the time of his murder.

He was found dead with several gunshot wounds, inside a car that crashed into a pole in Dawn Avenue on 3 March 2019, according to police.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
