A BMX track and playground will become a reality at Dandenong’s Hemmings Park after a commitment by the State Government to fund $146,000 of the project.
Dandenong MP John Pandazopoulos announced the funding recently and said a BMX jump track and playground with picnic facilities would be built with the grant, which is part of a $584,972 upgrade to Hemmings Park.
Other upgrades to the park include a venue for youth music group the Muso Network, a skate park, and new toilets.
Mr Pandazopoulos said young people would benefit physically from the upgrade, making the park more attractive and appealing for leisure and recreational activities.
But the funding is still months away, and is expected to be part of the next State Budget, falling into the hands of Greater Dandenong council about July this year.
