BENTLEY Jane held out a fast-finishing Texas Gold to record the fastest heat win in the $23,000 Group 3 Lizrene Classic greyhounds at Sandown Park last week and has drawn box eight for the final tonight (Thursday).
In wet and windy conditions, Bentley Jane jumped straight to the lead from the awkward box four, and after one lap had established a six-length break on her rivals, which proved enough to hold out Texas Gold.
Trained by Seymour-based Peter Dapiran, Bentley Jane is superbly bred being by stud sensation Brett Lee out of 2001 Radio Sport 927 Sandown Cup winner Bentley Babe.
The final over 715 metres and worth $15,000 to the winner will be run tonight, and the field is 1. Quidame, 2. Springvale Jinx, 3. Odnoc Alorac, 4. Pyrenees Trend, 5. Atomic Jet, 6. Sargent Major, 7. Texas Gold, 8. Bentley Jane, (reserves) 9. Kim Banner and 10. Grecian Art.
